Reality Self Defense – More Than Technique

Self Defense training is more than just the techniques themselves. If you continue to train one dimensionally, you will only be able to defend yourself one dimensionally. This is not real life. In a violent encounter, there will be a struggle and you may be fighting or running for your life. Visualization is so important in self defense training, bring it with every time you train. You can know all the self defense in the world, but if you cannot act on it, you have nothing. Awareness, reaction and response training are AS imKrav Maga Illinoisportant (or more) as the actual techniques. In shooter situations, all you have is your awareness and the ability to run and cover. All that defense against chokes and grabs, while incredibly important, doesn’t matter in this situation. Your self defense training must be more well rounded and cover all situations, not just hands on. This is the reality of self defense training. Not only will you develop confidence, and strength from self defense training, but you will also sharpen your awareness, reaction and response time which will carry over into potentially life threatening situations. So take that hour or so of training and make it as real as you can, visualize, get out of your comfort zone and only then will you begin to really learn to protect yourself.
